Information you provide
RoofGrid processes the addresses, map locations, roof geometry, project assumptions, and solar-planning inputs you enter to produce layouts and estimates.
Location and map data
If you allow browser location access, your device provides coordinates to the planner. Address search, map imagery, building outlines, and climate requests may send a query, coordinates, or the visible map area to services such as OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, Overpass, Esri, and NASA POWER.
You can decline location permission and search for a place or move the map manually.
AI assistant and contact form
If you use the optional AI assistant, your message and relevant project context are sent through RoofGrid's server-side proxy to the configured AI provider. If you use the contact form, your email address, subject, and message are sent through FormSubmit to the RoofGrid inbox.
You can use the main planning tools without using either feature.
Service providers
RoofGrid relies on Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting, serverless API execution, AI processing, configuration storage, and operational logging; mapping and building-data services; NASA POWER for climate data; and FormSubmit for contact-form delivery. Each provider handles information under its own privacy terms and may process it in different countries.
Storage and retention
Most planning interactions happen in your browser or through short-lived API requests. Service providers may retain operational logs or submitted information according to their own policies. Reports and exported project files are saved only to the location you choose on your device.
Your choices
- Decline browser location permission and navigate manually.
- Use the planner without sending messages to the AI assistant.
- Choose whether to submit the contact form.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of contact information RoofGrid controls, subject to applicable law.
Children's privacy
RoofGrid is a technical planning tool and is not directed to children. Do not submit personal information through the contact form unless you are permitted to do so in your jurisdiction.
Updates and questions
This policy may change as RoofGrid's features or providers change. The effective date above identifies the current version. For privacy questions or requests, use the contact form.
